Kill the Server
that's what i'd like to do anyway. it's thanksgiving day, and i've been at the office since around 7 am yesterday. unfortunately, since the servers are my responsibility, that would only make me stay longer. nice catch 22 there ...
so what's left? walk off the job? thought about it, but can't afford it. go postal? it isn't the people's fault, and it wouldn't help anyway, the server would still be down, and with my luck, i'd be sentenced to fixing the machine first. so here i sit, ready to cry because i want to be in my spouse's arms and can't be because bills still need to be paid.

Nope, he got home at 5am. So I made sure he slept for a good long time and we spent the rest of the day cleaning while I cried thanks to the Christmas music. We celebrated Thanksgiving on Friday.

in it's own way, things worked out. we already knew we were doing our thanksgiving celebration on friday instead of thursday, so thursday was a big cleaning the house day. and on sunday, we had another "mini thanksgiving" for my sister-in-law's family since their schedule wouldn't allow them to be present on friday.
certainly it wasn't the most pleasant to be at the office for that long, but i didn't have to come into the office at all the rest of the long weekend -- everyone else in my department did.
