Kill the Server

that's what i'd like to do anyway. it's thanksgiving day, and i've been at the office since around 7 am yesterday. unfortunately, since the servers are my responsibility, that would only make me stay longer. nice catch 22 there ...

so what's left? walk off the job? thought about it, but can't afford it. go postal? it isn't the people's fault, and it wouldn't help anyway, the server would still be down, and with my luck, i'd be sentenced to fixing the machine first. so here i sit, ready to cry because i want to be in my spouse's arms and can't be because bills still need to be paid.

pain and lost days ...

that's about how i feel at the moment. :( throat infection ... my cough medicine has codeine in it. and the first couple days, it really only took the edge off of the pain. and on top of that, my memory of monday could fit into less than fifteen minutes.

15 minutes out of 24 hours is pretty bad.

i'm told i ate (two separate times), went to the doctor, told my spouse to take a nap, i'd watch the kids for a few hours, watched shrek 2 with the kids, played zelda with the kids, took the laptop away from my spouse to more strongly encourage the nap, and turned on the heating unit for the bed( full blast) when i laid down.

what i remember: very fuzzy few words with the doctor, and being irritated at a single screen in zelda and turning it off.

yeah, it seems i was in pretty bad shape.

however, on the bright side, i don't remember hurting monday either ... i hurt now, but then again i can remember what's happening too.

more later

voting

well, we voted ...

and it looks like the election may end up in court again.

ohio this time ...

perhaps we will eventually get to a point in societal evolution where none of this is even necessary, that each person will have the sense to be helpful and friendly and that money will be an archaic concept that is difficult for students in history class to grasp.

... or perhaps that is just wishful thinking on my part. if it is, it's a nice thought.
